Recc of the Update:
For the edification and glorification of nerds everywhere, I recommend to you the YA novel Into the Wild Nerd Yonder by Julie Halpern.
OMG, I loved this book so much! Cute! I smiled through the entire thing.
Jessie’s character voice is hilarious, her family is loving and functional, and, as someone who’s known for years that nerds are the nicest and funnest people to be around, I loved the message.
Highly recommend!
Though I’m not sure if we can relate or not for I don’t know how this character feels, but my older sister and I look nothing like each other nor act like it. And when I was in highschool I would hear from everyone ALL the time about her. *eyeroll* Yeah I know, she’s my sister. WHAT!? LOL good times.
My little sister has the opposite problem as she’s the pretty one in the family. At least I’m lucky that people meet me first without the older-sibling standards!
I’m the oldest too. And my 2-years-younger brother looked a lot like me. I don’t know if being obviously related to that loner nerd-girl caused him any trouble in high school….Hope not!
