Alrighty, my cosplay pics from Oni-con.
Myself as 5th Division Shinigami Vice-Captain Hinamori Momo, from the anime/manga Bleach.
We turned on the Astros game last night to be good little Houstonians and support the home team. We aren’t big sports watchers (thank goodness, bore me to death), so it took us a few days to notice “Oh hey! World Series? Rock!” and turn on the tube.
A commercial for the Bush-Clinton Katrina Fund came on, featuring papa George Bush sitting next to Houston’s own abrasively loud Mattress Max, and I about fell out of my chair. With laughter.
No, but really, talk about bizARRE. Mattress Max has been on Houston TV for years, all my life, with his shouted furniture commercials, always claiming with a jump that “Gallery Furniture really will SAVE YOU MONEY!!!” But when he made the transition from obnoxious salesman who can’t speak in lower then a shout, to a Houstonian celebrity and icon sitting next to former presidents, I don’t know. I think my school district had him come over as a motivational speaker when I was in junior high, which I found very annoying then.
I’m not even going to go into the ridiculousness of a Bush/Clinton co-fund, ’cause WHATever. Perhaps they’ll have Chuck Norris on tonight. XP
Go ASTROS! Don’t die!
Oni-con was fun! I was able to get a table right outside of the dealers room, so if anybody wanted their face painted, they definitely knew I was there. :) Friday very few did, but Saturday quite a few did and I was kept nicely busy. Sesshoumaru’s markings are definitely my most popular design. :) I also got to do 2 full Ichigo’s hollow mask faces, a few Gaara faces, a few Fruits Basket animals, 2 river of tears (always fun), and a few permanent anime blushes. Showers of butterflies is my most popular original design. I sold absolutely no prints. hmh.
I was able to share my table with Marla, which was fun, and she was able to sell a few copies of her wacky Naruto doujinshi.
I wasn’t able to get anything workable done for Orihime’s hair clips (and you HAVE to have the hairclips), so instead, at the last minute I changed to cosplaying a light-haired Hinamori (girl on right). I whipped up a bun cover, and pinned some fabric on my arm and taped on a paper badge. It worked pretty well. :] I bought a black wooden sword (bokuto!) from the dealers room that my little brother keeps stealing from me, and I love my black hakama. XD
There were lots of Bleach cosplayers at the con, XD but because I was behind a table and am generally dignified (ehhehheh), I refrained from glomping/attacking/sobbing on any Aizens I saw. Despite being sorely tempted. I called a Hitsugaya ‘Shiro-chan’, but he didn’t seem to get it. tsk tsk.
I got a few pics of my costume that I’ll post later if any of them are decent. :]
Despite all the stress and the money, the late-night prepwork, and the hours of boredom when no one wants a pretty facepaint, I really love doing cons. XD The people watching, all the fabulous to awful to wonderful costumes, the fangirl squeals and teenagers, and the painting, it’s all just fun. ^__^
I got a table for Oni-con!! YAY!
They had some cancelations, so if everything goes as planned I should be doing face painting tomorrow and Saturday at Oni-con here in Houston. :)
I have almost finished my black hakama. Mwah. :] I’m going to be cosplaying ShinigamiDressed!Orihime from Bleach on Saturday, and wearing my generic!feudal outfit on Friday.
I just found out I could get a table this afternoon, so *runs around like crazy*
Have some more art! No N’yasha here, but a bit of Bleach and some “I’m turning Japanese I really think so” anime influenced stuff.
Japanese Sand Fighters

No less then 3 animes can be seen as an influence in this pic, though one only came about after it was finished. Can you name all of them?
I didn’t realize it until after I had inked that their kimono tops are tucked in the wrong direction. So they’re really dead, or undead. And running around attacking things in the desert. XD
I manipulated Larafairie’s decay brushes for the texture. Nifty nifty brushes.
AND Hitsugaya-taicho from Bleach in watercolors, ink and white ink splatters. Splatters are fun. Much love to Shiro-chan.
I did this quickly so it has lots of things wrong with it, but I wanted to attempt white eyelashes and eyebrows. They didn’t entirely work, but heh, it was fun.

I’m heading to Oni-con next week, but I was a dolt and didn’t get my table in time, so now I’m scrambling to try and get one. doh. -_-;
It’s about time this blog got some art on it again. So I shall subject you all to my recently acquired Inuyasha fandom!!
MWAHHAHAhahahahHA!
It’s not like there isn’t an abundance of Inuyasha fanart on the net, but I’m currently in the throes of Inu fangirlness, so y’all will just have to deal. XP

“Daijoubu?” = “Are you alright?”
Drawn at work with no ref, so her sleeves are short. Oh well.
ink (incl. ballpoint pen) and marker
MORE! And not just Inu, other stuff too. Really. » Continue Reading
