I hope everyone had a fabulous Easter!

I made the Easter ham, and was rather pleased with it. ^_^ I’m an experimental cooker. I get it from my mother. But she’s most likely to put wheat or carob chips in something, while I’m more likely to put fruit in the meat dishes and go crazy with the spices.

For the ham, I sliced it, and topped it all with a can of crushed pineapple, honey, cinnamon, pepper, and vinegar, which kept it from being too sweet. :)

The only Easter egg hunt I did was the silly but addictive Gaia Hunt. And now I’m egg-bumped out.

No Return by ChristineX , rated T. (ie, PG-13)
Fabulous modern retelling of Phantom of the Opera set in Southern California. Yes, it’s good. And has amazingly tangable descriptions. Wow, usually descriptions bore me out of my mind, but her’s are detailed, wonderfully used, and ground her fic solidly in reality. This is a lovely romance for all the Erik lovers out there. :)

Fanfic.net has just moved over from using the American Movie Ratings system to a new one they devised themselves. Heh. So PG-13 is now T.
Why? Oh, whatever, just a new system to have to get used to. *shrug*

Two more pages up on zee comic.

I’ve finally gotten around to reading Reman Mythology (it’s been in my “comics to actually read” bookmark folder for a while). Gah, beautiful comic. Fantastic backgrounds, gorgeous costume design (LUV the costumes), cool world, and great plot. Highly recommend this one, yo.

I went with Kirstin to see Phantom. Her first, my third time. She was distracted by her sister going into labor with a new nephew, and we did much Cleolinda inspired giggling. At the end I was “No, Christine, don’t leave him! He needs LOVE!!!” which I consider a good sign. If only he wouldn’t kill people. Bad Erik, no more murdering.

I’m still in Howl induced “character shock” as UniEm likes to say, ie, total fangirl. I want to see it with subtitles!

Stephanie L has the revamped and improved Schoolbooks and Brimstone webcomic up. Rawken Awesome.

When are y’all gonna get merchendise up Steph, Jen, and Greg? Steph is one of most fricken-awesome artists in existance, and she deserves to eat. I always have wanted one of those Mr. Satan mouse pads, just never got around to getting it…

It’s snowing hard outside. It’s lovely. ^^

I’ve just returned from watching ALW’s The Phantom of the Opera movie.

And……….

I liked it.

Shock.

I really did. No, the singing was not as good is it should have been, yes, I winced every once in a while at terrible intonation, and no, 19th Century audiences would not have been that impressed with Ms. Rossum’s performance, and especially not with Mr. Butler’s, but the music was stirring and pretty. I had to stifle a few laughs at utter cheese that no one else was laughing at (why was no one else laughing?)–cheese that was usually associated with Gerald. *le sigh*

But I left feeling fulfilled and happy about the show. I am definitely going to have a strong fondness for it, and I want to go again.

I drew this for the sole reason that I wanted to graw a guy with this hair style. That’s it. Then I realized that was slightly boring, so I added a mini-dragon for fun. :)

Gratuitous Hair Pic

I have decided that this is my very favorite hairstyle for males, despite the fact that I don’t think I’ve ever seen a live male with this hairstyle. :P So sue me, it’s pretty. :]

Newest and best yet Phantom trailer is up at themoviebox.net.
Very lovely trailer, very lovely movie….except…..

The man can’t sing. ;____; *weep* He’s yelling, belting, screaming, but not singing. It is very disappointing.

They wanted “young and sexy.” I assure you there are plenty of “young and sexy” men out there who can sing and can sing very beautifully. Why could you have not cast one of them. :(

I have heard his Music of the Night now, and have found him wanting. My roommates agree.

People can recognize good singing and they do value it. Normal, everyday movie going people.
It’s an insult to my ears and intelligence to cast as the Phantom a man who has never sung in anything. Because whenever they do that, it becomes readily evident WHY they have never sung in anything.

But still movie musical makers keep insisting on making the same mistake over and over again.
When will you learn???

The Star Wars: Revenge of the Sith trailer up and open and verah nice. :)

For Emy, for the October ArtXChange.

Emy's Erik as Phantom

It’s her character Erik the Bat as….Erik! The Phantom. Couldn’t resist.
I recognize a Phantom-esque character when I see one. :)

Interesting mix of Lloyd Webber and Leroux imagery here. I had fun with brushes, and got way too detailed.

I finally (FINALLY) got to see the first Phantom of the Opera movie-the silent 1920’s one with Lon Chaney. Cool stuff.
Occasional goofy silent film acting, Erik’s mask was UGLY (it’s sad when even your mask is ugly), and Chaney’s makeup was appropriately ugly and well done. Other than it looked like he couldn’t move his mouth much.
I love how they stuck very close to the book on a lot of things. The only real complaint I have is that in the end they don’t have Erik let them go. And since him letting them go is key to the redemption of his character, this version isn’t as good or powerful.
But it was actually getting tense and exciting there in the end, which was cool.

www.phantomthemovie.com has sound clips of Emmy and Gerald singing.
…….
Bleh. I’m totally disappointed. :(
Ehghghghghghghg. *weep*

*trying hard not to get very excited*
TOO LATE!!!!!!

Some Mexican phans somehow got ahold of pics from the entire upcoming ALW Phantom movie (and watermarked everything single one of them!! AH! Evil!!!). I want to know where they got them and how I can get them too–unwatermarked.

They are here: **Movie Spoilers, but they never show Gerald unmasked, which is good**

And several are posted here too:
