————- I have posted p.1-5 of my new Inuyasha fancomic, Dogwood Blossoms, on lj and devart. I’m keeping my postings to those two for simplicity’s sake. Read it Here or Here. ——————
Christmas! Was lovely.
I got a DRAFTING TABLE. I wanted a drafting table. I am NOW a TRUE ARTIST, because I have a table that angles. Heh.
I will now set up my room with a sw33t setup of computer and drafting table, and will be an art powerhouse. Right? Right.
I’ll probably still end up doing most of my sketching in my sketchbook on my lap at odd moments in various locations, but I’ve been wanting a full-scale “My Art Spot” since college, and I’ve never had one. All my projects have been mobile by necessity.
Right now I’m set up in the family room (which is nice because I’m directly in front of the TV), because the newlyweds have my bedroom. (oh, snap!)
It is lovely to have the whole family together, playing Cranium for hours into the night.

New art, from the PE Headshots exchange!
6 different characters, 8 different expressions from Brandy/Isskottr’s snazzy webcomic WildHunt.
Brianne did the most fabulously gorgeous and fantastic pic of my Purple characters that makes me go SQWEEEE! and run around the room in joyfullness, and it is here:
I’m getting over my art block! Yay!
My computer time is limited, so all non-digital media. I have a hard time calling markers and colored pencils ‘traditional’ or ‘natural’ media, since they aren’t natural at all, and not that traditional, unless we are only looking at 50 years of art history. Hehheh.
Y’all thought perhaps I had abandoned my Fanart100 goal? Nope!

1. Beginnings.
Here’s some sketch compilations from my blocked period, when this was as much as I could get out:
I kicked my little bro off of the media computer and finished some art, finally!

A late late 2/3rds of a wardrobe exchange for just-blue. It’s her Nockers Brody and Keratin Jane in some new court clothes. I still have to color Hermes, though, he’s coming later.
ink, oC, and psCS
Hope you like them, NibbletyKat!
She did new outfits for my charas Cyrus, Urvasi, and Jeevan. here Thanks, chicka! XD
Beatrice from le comique. I was thinking of using it in a site design, but now I don’t think I will. *glares at it*
Oh well, it’s pretty! ^^ I’ve been picking at the coloring for like a month now, pulling it up for a bit and working on a bit, and then closing it again.
Watched “Hero” yesterday (I know, finally). Oh so gorgeous! o.o! Such an interesting story: a national myth for China, promoting solidarity. Very mythological, complete with superhuman feats and sacrifices.
I loved the soundtrack, so I just downloaded several of the tracks and am in some sort of emotional Zen listening to them. ^______^
What trademark laws? *whistles innocently*
Actually, I have a bit of a rant about that:
What is with companies whose advertisers work tirelessly to get their company’s names and logos engrained into the public’s consciousness, but then they get all huffy about people using those names and logos in their verbal, visual, and written discussions? Those officially company-owned things are aspects of DAILY LIFE, they are a part of our lives, and we are going to use them. Conglomerates should feel honored (and fiscally secure) to have such strong presences in the public mind and culture.
It reminds me of despotic kings and dictators–who won’t allow anything negative to be written about them–when companies expect to be consulted, or paid, if their names are mentioned.
I was reading a contemporary novel today, and applauded when the author talked about her characters eating Pop-Tarts and Count Chocula cereal, and didn’t bother with silly and distracting little ™ signs. Because the brands we use and the names that surround us are a part of our lives, and when we use them, we make them our own. They are ours, and not truly the property of some company, when they become a part of our anthropologic reality.
Admittedly, I’m breaking, uh, bending several trademark and copyright laws with Miss Belly here, but I’m not going to be selling prints of her, or likely drawing her again, so no harm, and more good done. If anyone has a problem with it, I suggest they get themselves a 2 lb. bag of “Bertie Bott’s Every Flavor Beans” Jelly Bellys in “Rotten Egg”. XP
I shall happily join with Texans in politely asking for a kleenex, xeroxing everything I photocopy, and calling anything carbonated a coke, no matter what brand I’m actually going to be using.
(Don’t even get me started on character copyright and trademark issues. As an artist, that is so loaded. Superman, Harry Potter, Mr. Spock…they truly have become archetypes of our cultural superconscious, I don’t care what companies “own” them.)
/end rant
I wanted to post. Lookie, non-anime fanart!

Rough inks, way fun.
Wolvie and Rogue, brought on by discovering a recc to a great Movieverse Logan/Rogue fanfic. Awesome. Now I’m scouring archives.
I loved them in the first movie: excellent writing and acting, they had fabulous character development and chemistry. Go Hugh and Anna.
Rogue rightfully would have the biggest crush on him. In a few years, that can grow. Jean/Scott can be cute and boring together, give me movieverse Wolvie/Rogue all the way.
When I was a little tyke watching the first Xmen cartoon, I was all Gambit/Rogue. They’re not even planning on introducing him in the movies. Wah! ;_;
characters (c) Marvel, et al.
After a bit of poking around and begging, I’ve been able to join the Private Exchange, which is a private group of artists that do exchanges and art challenges. Way fun. XD
It’s run by Brianne, and most of the members can be found listed here.
Caeline/Fantazia was lovely and graciously sponsored me. :)
I’ve done two pieces for the exchange now, so take a look:
