I watched all of X-men: Evolution on YouTube over the weekend. :) (Search for “X-men Evolution episode #” to get to most of them.)
With it’s teen/pre-teen Saturday Morning target-audience, and most of the characters being speed-zapped into 16 year-olds and going to public high school (which feels rather contrived, as Xavier’s Institute doesn’t have a name change, and it would be easier for the mutants NOT to go to public school), the first season is pretty lame.
But starting with the 2 season and going on from there it gets cool. Very cool. By season 3, things start having consequences further-reaching then just high school, which ups the drama 10-fold. And some things that happened in previous episodes actually start to affect later episodes (oh, what a thought!). There is still too much wanton destruction of property with few consequences throughout, however. Yeah, yeah, it’s a cartoon, but if your antics start costing $10,000’s of dollars in repairs, authorities will track you down and put you in juvie, mutant or no. And they wonder why people don’t like mutants? ;]
With Jean being teen and Logan being 80+ years of age and this being an American cartoon, I was quite happy with the directors decision to have absolutely NO Logan/Jean/Scott angst. Yay!
Some of the character designs I utterly love, some I have issues with. Logan is too pale. Why would Manly Animal Man be pale? He should be tan, rough, and weather-beaten. He needs more hair and less under-arm revealing uniforms. :P His second, “Ultimate” based, uniform is great.
I ADORE Rogue as pale, heavy-make-up-wearing GothGrrl. It fits her so well. I also love that this isn’t a Rogue afraid to use her powers. Too many movie-verse fanwriters write Rogue as unwilling to use her powers (with now some X3 justification, sadly); it’s one of my biggest pet peeves in Rogue-fic.
Crimson Witch’s gothy redesign (which is sorely needed in a few other x-universes) is FABULOUS and is definitely what the X3 designers based Dark Phoenix’s outfit on in the movie (as both I and SteveG noticed). Both designs look fantastic and fit the characters, so I’m not complaining.
Steven Gordon is the character designer, and he has a great “How to Draw X-men:Evo characters” section on his website.
He was also one of the main character designers for Rich Animation’s direct-to-vid Biblical animations through Nest, which explains why his designs looked so extremely familiar to me. My family owns about 40 of those animations on VHS. :)
By the end of season 4, the writers of X-men:Evo have set up a version of the X-men universe that I really like, and I wish they’d been able to continue. I’d love some fanfic too, but with the lower age demographic, I despair of finding any of quality! Oh, woe!

Welp, my job ended on Saturday, so I unemployed and seeking. Anybody hiring? I’d love an art job, but something in town and CLERICAL would be really wonderful right now.
I hate job hunting, it brings out all my insecurities and makes me go “AHHH! Why would anybody want to hire ME???” and annoying angsty stuff like that.

My guest strip for my good friend Shada’s webcomic Nowhere University is up on her site! :) It involves every character in her strip, including one that will be introduced later, and doing it amused me greatly. Lot’s of appropriate character reactions.

Drawing done completely in one class period at the start of last semester, coloring done in photoshop today. Just one of many pics waiting on my harddrive to be colored. -_-;
Coloring always seems to take forever, and never to go really where I want it to, so I put off doing it, and nothing ever gets finished. *sigh*
I’ve got to get better at this. I want to be able to paint like, oh, these people:
Loish, Kuroitora, Nashya, Tobiee, Korone, Questionstar, Jujika, Mincedniku, and whole bunches of other people I either can’t locate or can’t remember right now.
And everybody wants to be able to paint like Noah-kh, and Heise, and Artgerm…I’ll stop there.
I didn’t try for these levels in this particular pic, but these are the levels I want to get close to someday. yup. Anyways, got to work on it.
SNOW!!
It’s been a mild winter, and it continues to be a mild winter…. XD
Snow is very pretty.
I just ate a glorious tasting peach. :o
AGH!!! Re: Image.
I don’t have time for this! Y’all people! It’s your fault I’m drawing silly and fun wacom doodles instead of doing something more productive!! >:[

I think that’s everybody! :D I’ve had so many positive comments about the Webcomic panel, it makes me quite happy. ^^
It’s amazing it worked so well, since we had SO many people there. Very fun, though, I LOVE webcomics. :)
It was great to meet these fabulous people too, if some only briefly. And to those who already knew me: How come it seems half my rl friends are webcomic artists?? Sheesh!! XD
Special appologies to Amanda Wallace. I misspelled your name EVERYwhere!! Gomen, gomenasai!! It was my fault, I didn’t realize. -_-;
Edit: Camilla has put up some fabulously detailed notes of all the panels she went to at the Symposium. Coolness.
Test yesterday, test today, test tomorrow, and I should take one on Saturday too. :P
Was bummed when didn’t do well on yesterdays, and Kirstin and I went Walmart shopping. Found cool $1/yard fabric I can use in my Middle Eastern garb, and the awesomest partially fur-lined, big, black laceup boots. Yes, at Walmart. They are awesome, and my roomies are calling them my ‘Gaia boots.’ :)
We stopped by Christin’s new and newly open Vermillian Skies Cafe around 10:30pm.

Rocking awesome. *hugs Christin* It looks so great. The place was hopping with a live band and people, the logo looked snazzy (and I was quite relieved that she didn’t need an illustrator file of it, ’cause I had never gotten around to doing it -_-; ), and I had my first raspberry shot hot chocolate, which was lovely.
Provo peeps!–Everyone go to the de-cafe! It’s mod, trendy, OPEN 24 HOURS!!, serves lovely gourmet herbal teas, hot chocolates, and milk ’steamers.’ The walls are lined with couches, and paperback novels and artwork line the walls. It’s ment to be the ultimate hangout place. I want to hang out. :)
It’s on University, near Center Street and Dragon’s Keep. Exact addy later.
Edit: It’s at 236 N. University Ave. Go, my peeps!
Go Christin.
